Q - Can anyone become a PeoplesChoice Credit Union member?
A - Anyone who lives, works or goes to school in Cumberland County or York County is eligible for membership.
Q - Where can I find you?
A - We have 4 convenient locations currently. Our main office in Saco. Branches in Biddeford, Wells and Sanford.
Q - How is a credit union different than a bank?
A - There are a number of important differences between a credit union and a bank. Perhaps the most important is that PeoplesChoice Credit Union is a member owned, public institution, that operates as a non profit organization in its designated markets. It is not subject to the same federal rules and guidelines as banks.
Q - Can I be a member at more than one credit union?
A - Absolutely. Many of our eligible members have certain accounts or loans at other credit unions, but elect to utilize a certain account or loan program that we have that is especially helpful and attractive to them.
Q - What makes PeoplesChoice Credit Union different?
A - For starters, not surprisingly, the people! We have industry leading, cumulative experience in what we do, from senior management, to branch managers, loan officers, tellers, and service representatives. We also are very well known in the market for having aggressive, attractive rates on varied loan products. Our No Fee, Low APR Visa product is Maine's first.
Q - Are you involved in your communities?
A - Yes we are! We were very proud in supporting our local community with donations annually to nearly 150 area groups and organizations like Biddeford Career Firefighters, Wells Senior Center, York County Community College Foundation, Saco Community Garden, and Maine Children's Cancer Program. We also provide our beautiful community room at our Saco main office to any number of groups and charitable events through the year to aid in their fund raising, meetings, and administration. It is not uncommon to have up to 100 events a year saving our partners valuable $$ in this challenging economic climate.
Q - How much does this service cost?
A - PeoplesChoice Credit Union Mobile Banking is a free service offered to our Online Banking customers. However, there may be charges associated with text messaging and data usage on your phone. Check with your wireless phone carrier for more information.
Q - Is it secure?
A - Yes, PeoplesChoice Credit Union Mobile Banking service utilizes best practices from online banking, such as HTTPS, 128-bit SSL encryption, PIN or password access and application timeout when your phone is not in use. Only the phones that you personally enroll in the service can access your accounts. In addition, no account data is ever stored on your phone. And in the event your phone is lost or stolen, the service can be immediately disabled by either going online to peopleschoicecreditunion.com or calling the PeoplesChoice Credit Union Online Banking support line at 1-877-785-6328.
Q - Which wireless carriers are supported?
A - We support all the popular US wireless phone carriers, including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. If your carrier is not listed when you enroll, select ‘Other’ and try the Mobile Web option, or check back later, as new carriers will be added over time.
Q - Do I need a text message or data plan?
A - Yes, a text messaging and/or data plan is typically needed, as data usage can become expensive without them. Please check with your wireless carrier for more information.
Q - I’m not enrolled for Online Banking. Can I still use this?
A - You must first enable your bank account(s) for Online Banking before using PeoplesChoice Credit Union Mobile Banking.
Q - What is Activation?
A - Activation is a one-time process that helps ensure your security. After you enroll a phone, you will receive an activation code which will be required to begin using Mobile Banking on your device. Your activation code is good for 24 hours. If you are unable to activate your phone during that time, just return to the enrollment page on your computer and follow the prompts to request a new activation code. We recommend you print your activation code and installation instructions for easy reference during installation.
Q - How do I sign up for Mobile Banking?
A - Log in to Online Banking from your computer. Go to User Services and choose the Mobile Enrollment option from the Manage Account box. Enroll your mobile phone and follow the activation instructions.
Q - With three options to choose from, how do I know what’s right for me?
With three mobile banking options to choose from, PeoplesChoice Credit Union Mobile Banking provides you with the flexibility to manage your finances in a way that fits your lifestyle and your personal preferences.
1. If you are a customer with a Smartphone (iPhoneTM, DroidTM, BlackBerryTM or WindowsTM), you may want to download the PeoplesChoice Credit Union Mobile Application and integrate your mobile banking activities into your Smartphone.
2. If you are a customer who prefers to utilize the browser integrated into your phone, or you have a Smartphone other than those listed above, PeoplesChoice Credit Union offers you the ability to access your accounts through our secure mobile website.
3. If you are a customer that prefers the convenience of text messaging, our Text Banking solution will allow you to access your accounts and transfer funds in just seconds.
Q - What is PeoplesChoice Credit Union Mobile Banking?
A - PeoplesChoice Credit Union Mobile Banking gives you access to your accounts from your mobile web browser or a downloadable mobile banking application, depending on your preference and your phone capabilities. Both options allow you to: view account balances, search recent account activity, transfer funds and find the nearest ATM or branch locations.
Q - How do I access Mobile Banking on my phone’s browser?
A - After you have successfully activated your Mobile Banking account, your phone will receive a text message with the PeoplesChoice Credit Union Mobile Banking URL. You can also visit the site at any time at http://m.peopleschoicecreditunion.com.
Q - I activated Mobile Banking on my phone’s browser. Why am I being asked to activate again?
A - At the time of activation, a “cookie” is stored on your phone’s browser which allows the Mobile Banking system to remember that you activated. The cookie is only visible by the Mobile Banking system and does not contain personal information. Some phones may require you to enable cookies or periodically erase them, requiring re-activation. If you are experiencing this issue, check your phone settings to ensure that cookies are enabled. If cookies are enabled and the issue persists, please contact your mobile network carrier for cookie support information on your mobile phone. If you would like to re-activate, text R or RECOVER to the PeoplesChoice Credit Union shortcode.
Q - How do I optimize my mobile web experience?
A - Ensure your phone’s browser has cookies enabled. In addition, enable stylesheets for the best viewing experience.
Q - Is PeoplesChoice Credit Union Mobile Banking supported on my phone?
A - PeoplesChoice Credit Union Mobile Banking is supported on all phones with a mobile web browser that supports cookies.
Q - How do I install the downloadable application?
A - Depending on how you have connected to the PeoplesChoice Credit Union website and the type of phone you have, there are different ways to download the PeoplesChoice Credit Union Mobile Application. Below are the most common methods:
1. Apple iPhone: You may search for the PeoplesChoice Credit Union Mobile Application in the iTunes Store and download the application directly using that service at no charge.
2. BlackBerry / Droid / Windows: Activate your phone for both Text Banking and Mobile Banking by visiting Online Banking and selecting the “Mobile Enrollment” option listed under “User Services”.
During the activation process, your phone will receive a text message from 96865.
• Select the URL link provided (http://m.peopleschoicecreditunion.com) and from the PeoplesChoice Credit Union mobile site select the link to download the PeoplesChoice Credit Union Mobile Application.
After launching the application for the first time, you may be asked to give permission to access the data network. Once you have given permission to access the network, you can log into PeoplesChoice Credit Union Mobile Banking using your Online Banking User ID and password.
Q - I enrolled my phone number but did not receive a text message. What should I do?
A - Typically you should receive a text message within a few minutes after enrolling, however sometimes mobile carriers experience delays which slow down text message delivery. While waiting, make sure you phone has wireless signal. In addition, be sure you entered the correct phone number on the enrollment site. If you still do not receive it, contact your wireless carrier to be sure text messaging is enabled on your phone.
Q - I received an activation code but never used it. What do I do now?
A - Activation codes expire after 24 hours. If you need a new one, return to the Mobile Banking enrollment site (called the Mobile Banking Center) and request a new activation code.
Q - What happens if I get a new phone or change phone numbers?
A - If you get a new phone or change phone numbers, be sure to return to Mobile Banking website via your PC and update your phone profile in the Mobile Banking Center. We recommend removing your old phone and re-enrolling your new phone.
Q - Can I use Mobile Banking or Text Banking on more than one phone?
A - Yes. Visit the Mobile Banking Center and simply enroll (and then activate) another phone number.
Q - I activated Mobile Banking on my phone’s browser. Why am I being asked to activate again?
A - At the time of activation on your phone’s browser, a cookie is generated which always tells the Mobile Banking system that you activated (thus allowing you to proceed to the sign on screen). However, some mobile phones will periodically erase all cookies, requiring you to re-activate.
Q - What if my device is lost or stolen?
A - If your phone is lost or stolen, contact your mobile service provider immediately to stop all wireless service. In addition, return to the Mobile Banking website and disable or remove your phone.
The beauty of it all - you don’t have to choose. As a PeoplesChoice Credit Union customer, you will have the option to use any combination of our Text Banking and Mobile Banking products.
Q - What is PeoplesChoice Credit Union Text Banking?
A - PeoplesChoice Credit Union Text Banking gives you access to your accounts via text (SMS) messages on your phone. It’s a fast, easy way to look up account balances or recent account history by sending a text command to a shortcode.
Q - What is the PeoplesChoice Credit Union shortcode?
A - The PeoplesChoice Credit Union shortcode will be provided to you once you enroll in Text Banking. For ease of use, we recommend that you add this number to your phone’s address book or contacts and name it something that you will easily recognize, such as PeoplesChoice Credit Union Text Banking.
Q - Can I use both Text Banking and Mobile Banking on my phone?
A - Yes, you can use both options from the same phone. To do so you will need to activate each option on your phone prior to use. We recommend that you activate both Text Banking and Mobile Banking when you enroll, even if you aren’t sure that you will want to use both. Both activating both at the time of your enrollment, you will eliminate the need to make changes later.
Q - Is Text Banking supported on my phone?
A - PeoplesChoice Credit Union Text Banking will work on any text message (SMS) capable phone from one of our supported carriers.
Q - Will I receive unsolicited text messages?
A - No. You will only receive messages when you specifically request them with one of the Text Banking commands.
