The results are in, and in 2010, PeoplesChoice Credit Union raised $8,203 of the record-setting $402,000 that the Maine Credit League raised for Ending Hunger in Maine.
Community-minded by definition, the Maine Credit Union League has donated close to $4 million dollars since 1990 to help end hunger in Maine.
„In today‚s economy, food banks have seen an unprecedented demand for their services,‰ says PeoplesChoice President, Luke Labbe. „One hundred percent of all funds raised stay in Maine and go directly to the cause of ending hunger,‰ he adds. PeoplesChoice raised the funds through its annual Polar Bear Scramble golf tournament, bake sales, „Dress-down Fridays,‰ and other fundraisers throughout the year.
PeoplesChoice employees unselfishly provide many hours of volunteerism each year, and needy Mainers directly benefit. Recipients of this year‚s food bank donations include the Bon Appetit Meal Program, Biddeford Food Pantry, Saco Food Pantry, Inc., Wells Food Pantry, Sanford Food Pantry, Soup‚s On ˆ Congregation Church of Wells ˆ Food Pantry, Southern Maine Agency on Aging, York County Shelter Food Program, Stone Soup Food Pantry, York County Food Rescue and Wells Senior Center.
