PeoplesChoice Credit Union's wonderful front desk ladies, who cheerfully answer the phone each and every day, to help our customers with any needs, recently came across a very bad individual who was trying to take over one of our members accounts.
This fraudster had every piece of information needed including account numbers, social security numbers, addresses and on and on, and wanted to change the address to the account and also have direct access to online banking. What didn’t add up was the foreign accent associated with the member name so our front line personnel decided to directly call our customer to verify that in fact he was the one calling us. That is when we learned this particular member's computer firewall was down and information had been stolen.
Our member was of course very gratefu—they even sent us a beautiful plant—and we were happy to help. Do you think a big bank would have taken the time, effort, or initiative to stop this bandit cold?
