We're giving you all the tips to stay out of potentially scary financial situations.

Halloween is all about spooky surprises, but there’s one kind of trick you should always watch out for: fraud!

Fraud can happen when someone tries to trick you into giving away your money or personal information. Scammers often pretend to be someone you know. They might also offer a prize that sounds too good to be true, or send a suspicious message asking you to click a link.

That’s why PeoplesChoice is here to help you stay safe. A few things to keep in mind:

  • Think before you click. Don’t click links in unexpected messages or emails, especially if they promise free prizes or ask for personal information.
  • Keep your secrets. Never share passwords, account numbers, or security codes with someone who asks for them online.
  • If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Think twice about surprise giveaways, free gifts, or messages saying you’ve won something you never entered to win.
  • Ask a trusted adult. If something feels suspicious, stop and talk to a parent, teacher, or another trusted adult before responding.
