SpendShield, PeoplesChoice Credit Union’s Overdraft Service is a safety net on your checking account designed to help protect you if you accidentally overdraw your account. SpendShield saves you the inconvenience of having your check returned or transaction declined when there are insufficient funds in your account.
PCU’s overdraft protection does not cost you anything, unless you use the service. If you overdraw your account (by check, in-person withdrawals, or automatic bill payments) you will be charged an overdraft fee for each item. You will not be charged more than 5 fees in a single day. Note: If you want PCU’s SpendShield protection to apply to your ATM and everyday debit card transactions, federal regulations require you to complete an Opt-In agreement with the credit union.
As always, we encourage you to manage your finances responsibly. As long as you maintain your account in good standing, we may approve your overdrafts within your assigned overdraft limit. Your limit is not reflected in your balance provided at the ATM, online banking, phone banking system, or by a member service representative. PCU reserves the right not to pay for any overdraft item or change your limit at our discretion. You will be notified if an overdraft occurs and are expected to bring your account to a positive balance.
