PeoplesChoice Polar Bear Golf Scramble Fundraiser Sets Record

SACO – PeoplesChoice Credit Union recently reported a fundraising record of $23,131 for its Annual Polar Bear Golf Scramble, which took place on October 6 at the Woodlands Club in Falmouth.

The Polar Bear is the credit union’s largest fundraising event, with profits benefiting Maine Special Olympics and the Maine Credit Union League’s Campaign for Ending Hunger.

“These results are only possible with the support of our incredible sponsors,” PeoplesChoice CEO Luke Labbe said. “It was the perfect day on the course to play for two deserving charities.”

The funds raised contributed to a total of more than $317,000 and counting for the year by PeoplesChoice.

This year’s event marked 22 years since the inception of the fundraiser, with the “Polar Bear” name being developed when the event initially began as a winter event on an indoor golf simulator.

“We’ve already surpassed our overall fundraising goal for the year,” Labbe said. “We’re excited to see how this year concludes, but it truly shows how invested our community is in supporting those who need it most.”
